Terms of Use — Read My Notifications (Android and Windows app)

Effective date: 26 September 2026 · Last updated: 26 September 2026 · Provider: Birdie Ltda., Santiago, Chile · Contact: support@birdie.cl

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of the Read My Notifications app for Android and Windows and the Read My Document services behind its premium features (together, the “Service”), operated by Birdie Ltda. (“Birdie”, “we”, “us”). By installing or using the app you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled.

1. The Service

Read My Notifications reads out loud the notifications that arrive on your device, following the rules you set: which apps, which contacts, when, and how. The free version uses your device’s own voices. Premium features — cloud voices, VIP contacts, keyword rules, a voice and reading style per app, choosing apps or contacts that may be read during quiet hours or Do Not Disturb, and AI summaries — require a Read My Document plan.

2. Accounts and plans

The free version works without an account. Premium features unlock when you sign in with a Read My Document account that has an active plan; it is the same plan used in the Word and Outlook add-ins, the Google Docs add-on, the web app and the browser extension.

The Android app does not sell anything. Plans bought on the web are sold and billed by Polar, acting as merchant of record, which handles payment, applicable taxes and invoicing; you can manage or cancel your plan from Polar’s customer portal. Plans bought through the Microsoft Commercial Marketplace for work and school accounts are billed by Microsoft.

3. Allowances and fair use

Each plan includes a monthly allowance of synthesised characters and of AI summaries, shared across every place where you use Read My Document. The app also applies its own monthly limit so that a busy group chat cannot use up your allowance. When an allowance is exhausted, the app goes back to your device’s voice until it resets. We may rate-limit use far above typical patterns to keep the Service available for everyone.

4. Reading notifications out loud is your choice

The app reads whatever notifications you allow it to, and they may include private messages from you or from other people. People near you may hear them. You decide where and when to use the app, and you can limit it by app, by contact, by time, to headphones only, or to reading styles that do not read the content. Do not use it where reading other people’s messages aloud would be inappropriate or unlawful.

5. Safety, and what not to rely on it for

  • Driving. The app is meant to let you keep your eyes off the screen, not to encourage you to handle your phone. Never interact with your device while driving, and follow the law where you are.
  • Not an alerting system. Notifications can be missed, delayed or skipped: the operating system may stop background apps to save battery, Do Not Disturb and your own rules may silence them, and the network may fail. Do not rely on the app for emergency, medical, security or other critical alerts.
  • Accuracy. Speech, language detection and AI summaries may contain errors or misread text. Check the original notification when accuracy matters.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to synthesise illegal content or content that infringes the rights of others; to resell or expose the Service as your own product or API; or to circumvent allowances, authentication or rate limits. You must also comply with the terms of the voice providers whose voices you choose. We may suspend accounts that breach this section.

7. Your content

Your notifications remain yours. You grant Birdie only the limited, temporary permission needed to process the text sent to the Service in order to produce the audio or summary you request. We do not store it and we do not use it to train AI models.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Maintenance, provider outages and changes to Android or Windows can interrupt it or limit what the app can do. We may add, change or withdraw features, including individual voices when a provider discontinues them. If we make a materially adverse change to a paid plan, we will tell subscribers by email in advance.

9. Disclaimer and liability

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Birdie’s total liability arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app, and ask us to delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, for abuse, or where required by law, and will normally give notice unless doing so is unlawful or would worsen the problem.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile, and the courts of Santiago, Chile have jurisdiction, without depriving you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app and, for subscribers, by email.
